Sam was born in Spokane, Washington, and raised primarily in Wenatchee. With strong family ties to Spokane and many years spent in the area throughout his childhood, he always considered it a second home.

After sensing a call to vocational ministry, Sam pursued a degree in youth ministry and spent more than a decade serving students and families in the local church. Those years shaped his passion for discipleship, mentoring, and walking alongside young people as they navigate both faith and everyday life. As his ministry experience grew to include nonprofit leadership and administration, Sam continued his education, earning a B.A. in Business Administration and developing additional skills in organizational leadership and management.

This role at GNU brings together many of the things he values most. Through daily interaction with students, discipleship, practical support, and simply being present in their lives, he has the opportunity to help students grow personally and spiritually. With his long history in student ministry and genuine love for encouraging and investing in young people, the role is a natural continuation of the work he has been passionate about throughout his career.

Sam married his amazing wife, Rachel, in 2010, and they have two wonderful children. They finally made it to their forever home in Spokane in 2017.

Outside of work and ministry, Sam enjoys music, cooking, creative projects, and finding new ways to spend meaningful time with his family.
